Molly is the younger sister of the trailblazing artist Minnie Pwerle and the aunt of internationally recognised artist Barbara Weir. It was in 2004 when Molly first picked up the paintbrush, after Barbara Weir arranged a workshop for Molly and her younger sisters (Gayla and Emily) to paint with their eldest and already famed sister Minnie.

Minnie was attentive and encouraging as her younger sisters developed their painting proficiency. All of the sisters had a lifetimes’ experience as ceremonial artists, which involved knowing the dances and intricate designs associated with women’s rituals, which are applied to the womens’ upper chest, breasts and arms during ceremony.

This encyclopedic knowledge of ‘Awelye Atnwengerrp’ (women’s ceremony) has been the source of Molly’s artistic brilliance. Her works are joyful and expressive representations of the designs painted on women’s bodies and the dancing tracks. Molly’s works have been exhibited across Australia and the US, and include collaborations with her sisters.

Despite being in her 90’s Molly has maintained her vivacious personality and continues to live independently. Molly and her sisters Gayla and Emily live together on their Country surrounded by extended family. They maintain traditional customs and when they are not painting, enjoy going hunting for bush foods.
